Essex & Suffolk Border League Match Report 28/01/12 Premier Division Harwich & Parkeston maintained the position at the top as they beat Wormingford Wanderers 2-1, whilst Newbury Forest remain hard on their heels after their 6-0 win over Holland FC. Lawford Lads went to Great Bentley and won 2-0, but Hatfield Peverel slipped up as they were held to a 1-1 draw by University Of Essex, the University scorer was Charlie Goodlake, and West Bergholt were held to a 0-0 draw by Hedinghams United. Rowhedge drew with bottom club White Notley 2-2, and Alresford Colne Rangers made some more space from the bottom two as they beat Dedham old Boys 3-0. First Division Haverhill Sports Association went clear at the top after their 9-1 victory over Rayne, but Maldon St Marys drew 1-1 with Tiptree Jobserve dropping to valuable points. Boxted Lodgers slipped up at home as they lost 2-1 to Coggeshall Town, but Colne Engaine & Bell United had a 2-0 win away at Kirby Athletic. Earls Colne went over to St Osyth and won 5-1, whilst Clacton United drew 2-2 with Foxash Social. Barnston AFC defeated Mersea Island 2-0, and bottom side Bradfield Rovers overcame Gosfield United 2-1. Reserve Premier Division Gas Recreation Reserves defeated Hatfield Peverel Reserves 3-0, extending their lead over Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves to six points. Coggeshall Town Reserves won 3-2 against University of Essex Reserves, and Rowhedge Reserves went to Tiptree Jobserve Reserves and won 3-2. Dedham Old Boys Reserves drew with Great Bentley Reserves 0-0, and it was 1-1 between Earls Colne Reserves and Holland FC Reserves. Reserve Division One Barnston AFC Reserves fell to only their second defeat of the league season as they were beaten 3-2 at Mersea Island Reserves, leaving them six points behind leaders Harwich & Parkeston Reserves. Gosfield United Reserves defeated Bradfield Rovers Reserves 2-1, whilst Colne Engaine & Bell United Reserves fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Foxash Social Reserves. Hedinghams United Reserves drew 1-1 with Boxted Lodgers Reserves, and bottom side Kirby Athletic Reserves fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands Lawford Lads Reserves. Tommy Thompson Knockout Cup West Bergholt Reserves travelled over to White Notley Reserves and progressed to the next round of the cup with a 4-1 victory. Reserves Knockout Cup Little Oakley Reserves hosted well fancied Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves for a place in the semi final, and it was the home side who won through 1-0. |

Discipline and Hospitality It has been reported to the Management committee that teams have been failing to rope off the pitch in Premier Division matches, and not provide drinks to opposition and officials. This is a breach of the rules and will be dealt with if reported by either a match official, league official or the opposition. Attention is drawn to page 99, Appendix One of the rule book. Any club in breach of these rules will be charged appropriately. All clubs are also reminded that referees, officials and visiting teams should be treated with respect as per the FA guidelines. Failure to do so could result in clubs being charged with bringing the game into disrepute. |
